If you are looking for a solution for gripping small and medium-sized parts, Festo offers you the new EHPS electric standard gripper. The Festo pneumatic research and development activity is constantly evolving!
No need for an external controller, compact design, end-to-end position only. The operation of the electric gripper EHPS is flexible thanks to the ease of installation (through-holes) and commissioning (digital actuation).
Equipped with a single M12 5-pin connection and four gripping force percentages, without intermediate levels, selectable via rotary switch, the Festo electric standard gripper is an innovative product available in 3 sizes (16, 20, 25).
Direct position sensing with the T-slot on the gripping head indicates whether the gripping motion is correct. Moreover in case of power failure, the gripper EHPS holds the workpiece securely through automatic locking of the gear unit.
The Festo gripper is actuated via two PINs (open/close) only after a signal has been sent. This allows you to control movements. The compact dimension of the gripper avoid the interference of contours and protruding plugs.
At the end, don’t forget the engine! The acceleration distance for maximum force is only 0.5 mm. This is really important to have a dynamic response of the motor!

Here we show you the formula to calculate the gripping force Fh per gripper jaw as a function of lever arm x and eccentricity a and b.
The graph, that you can see in this brochure at the page 7, will indicate the Fh value of the gripper.
